Six Actions You Can Adopt To Find More Peace And Happiness In Your Life

Whilst peace of mind and happiness are our birthright, we often hear about our negative attitudes or mind-sets, about things that are holding us back, about all the mistakes we are making, about how we need to re-hash the past in order to move forward.  Well I’m here to remind you of positive ways to actually bring more peace and happiness and harmony into your life if you will just try them out.

 

1. REWRITE YOUR LIFE STORY OR SITUATION

Just re-write your story or current situation as you would actually like to experience it, no matter what it has been like or what is really going on at this moment in time. Just make-believe your life is exactly how you would like it. Imagine how happy and peaceful you are and keep your focus on this new story until it becomes your reality. Put away every shred of doubt and disbelief and just immerse your imagination into this new and exciting journey. Make it feel real as if you are already living this and keep amplifying the joyful feelings that come with this new life and you will begin to notice changes occurring.

I know this method works as I have used it at various times in my life with amazing results, like meeting my husband within three months of doing what I have asked you to do – write what you want to create and imagine it happening now.

 

2. Decide Not To Take Things Personally

Try to bypass any negativity that comes your way; imagine just picking it up, throwing it into the kitchen sink and allowing the water to wash it down the plug hole – you don’t need it.  If you pay no attention to it, negativity soon dies away because you are no longer vibrating at its low level to attract any more to yourself. Raise your vibration higher by placing your attention on positive things in order to attract joyful events and supportive people into your life.

If you truly want peace and happiness, you will  not allow other peoples’ negative comments and behaviours to destroy your joy. Just remind yourself that you can remain in peace no matter what is occurring around you as that is where you deserve to be. Nothing can disturb that peace without your permission so choose not to give in to petty arguments or misperceptions when others are venting their pain as it has nothing to really do with you, even though you might be on the receiving end of it. Value yourself enough to keep your focus on your own peace of mind.

 

3. Each Day Put Your Happiness First

Do something you love; treat yourself to lunch; dance; sing; rest; do whatever has meaning for you and helps you feel joyful, free and peaceful. Nothing else matters more than your joy and happiness for without those, what do you bring with you to others? Misery, negativity, resentments, exhaustion, grief?

Take time for yourself and then your peace and happiness will flow towards those you come into contact with and you will bring them the best of you, not the worst. This is the best way to encourage them to find the best in themselves.

 

4. Do Your Best In Each Situation You Encounter

Keep your word, walk your talk, live by your values, strive for the highest good of all in your actions and try to do no harm. Before the end of each day, if there is something you did or said that you are not comfortable with, rectify the situation. The power to do this rests in your hands. Take action instead of brooding over things and you will feel more at ease.

 

5. Have Compassion For Yourself

If you want more peace and happiness you need to be able to forgive yourself for things you may feel guilty about or have regrets about or feel you could have done better. A sure way into depression is to beat yourself up mentally over and over for something that you did or didn’t do that you believe you should or shouldn’t have done in the past or present.

First of all, you need to let yourself off the hook. If you feel you wronged someone and there is an action you can take to rectify things then, by all means, take the action because by doing so, you will feel better. If there’s nothing that can be done, you need to understand that the person you were in the past is not the person you are today who can look back and can see how how, perhaps, things could have been done or said differently.

The person you were in the past did the best they could with the knowledge they had at the time. If they could have acted or spoken differently they would have, so look at yourself through eyes of compassion and understanding. We can all look back now and see other ways of doing and being in hindsight but this wisdom has been given to us to use from now on, not in order that we beat ourselves up for not having known a better way forward at the time!

 

6. Disregard Negative Thoughts

Don’t allow any negative thought to breed in your mind because if you do, it will grow and like a fungus, it will take over and before you know it, it will destroy your peace and happiness with lies that you will end up believing.

Mind lies are behind conflicts, paralysis, anxieties, low self-esteem, depression and suicide. It is vital for us all to become more aware of our thoughts and our moods.

Our true state is Peace.

The moment you catch a negative thoughts or low mood beginning to take form, if you value your peace of mind, you will extinguish it before it begins to multiply or deepen and ruin your day, your relationships, your physical and mental health and your life!

You cannot afford to entertain even one negative thought if you want to create peace and joy. I know it can sometimes feel like a battle is going on and it is a battle that you will need to win. When you notice a negative thought or low mood, do something to distract yourself; play some uplifting or loud music; write a silly poem; paint; exercise. Just make yourself do something else.

Try speaking the negative thought out loud in a squeaky, silly voice which will make you laugh and put some distance between you and the thought. Phone a friend for support who can uplift you. Just do anything that works for you to get yourself out of the negative state of mind you find yourself in.

Once you have found a couple of ways that are effective in getting you into a more positive state of mind, keep a record of them and use them as needed.

Remember, your peace of mind and happiness are of the utmost importance so place them as a top priority in your life.
